Stacey & Daniel |
Yesterday we had the pleasure of photographing Stacey & Daniel's Wedding. I spent the morning with Stacey having her make up & hair done by the lovely Melissa George (who we would throughly recommend) and then joined by Brian on our arrival at the venue at the Langstone Hotel, Hayling island.
We photographed all day and into the evening, beautiful weather, even a trip down to the beach to photograph romantic shots, congratulations to them both, a wonderful day.
Also thank you to family and friends for making us feel so welcome, but mostly to the happy couple for booking us to capture their day.

New Equipment |
For those of you who are technically minded out there with regards to photography equipment, last Saturday (at Lizzie & Sven's wedding), I tried out my brand new 'Elinchrom Ranger' ring light, fitted to a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 lens.
What a fantastic piece of kit! I tried it with the couple up close to a wooden door, against a knurled oak tree and in open spaces. The light was perfect and no shadows anywhere.
It is a rather bulky item when fitted to a pro camera body. The battery pack, which is separate, is bulk & heavy and although it can be used hand-held, I would recommend using a tripod for stability and sharpness.
Another benefit of having two photographers meant I could concentrate on this set-up (for the romantic shots) whilst Wendy continued with the normal pics.
Once the couple have returned from honeymoon and seen there photographs, I will post a couple of examples.

Portsmouth Choral Union & Castle Primary School Concert |
The photographs re the concert by the Portsmouth Choral Union are now live on our website "Customers Pages > Events".
As one of the choirs that took part are from the Castle Primary School on Castle Street at Portchester, you will need to contact the Head Teacher at the school for the password to view and purchase photographs, or contact the PCU direct.

Advertising Changes |
Wendy and I have spent a lot of time this past week in looking hard in the way we advertise on hard-copy media and as a result we have scrapped all of our current literature. If you have collected any such material from us in the last couple of weeks, please disregard it and go to our webpage.
We are now in the hands of "Blue Dot" who work out of their premises on White Hart Lane in Portchester. They have taken the basic information and a disk of images from us and are designing new business cards, A5 postcards and tri-fold brochures.
We have also changed the information on our web pages and this should be referred to for all current prices and services on offer.
Exciting times are ahead. |

Spinnaker Tower Wedding Show |
Last night we had a fantastic time at Portsmouth's Spinnaker Tower, where the wedding show, organised by the "Itsadoddle Wedding Directory" team was held. The doors were open from 1930 through to 2200hrs and Wendy and I did not stop talking to potential customers throughout that time.
We had some very positive feedback from both suppliers and couples, with reserved dates being made there & then and enquiries for as far afield as Buckinghamshire.
We are now in the process of revamping all our advertising material ready for a massive push, including more hardcopy magazine articles.
Times are getting rather exciting for us. |

Why Use a Professional Photographer? |
With just five weeks to go we have taken a booking for photographing a church wedding, which includes the bride at home, everyting at the church and then the reception venue up to the first dance.
The happy couple had 'employed' the services of a family friend who has now pulled out at the last moment, leaving them with no photographer.
This is why you should look for a reputable professional photographer with Institute memberships and full insurance cover. Speak with them long before the day; view their past wedding photography and be happy with them as people. Sign a contract.
We will not always be avialable to pick up the pieces. |

Cowboy Traders |
We had a wedding enquiry this morning from the mother of a bride who is somewhat concerned and now looking at the possibility of booking us for her daughter's wedding in 2013.
A program on television last night, called "Cowboy Traders" exposed a business in Portsmouth who offer to organise directly, many parts of the wedding day, including the photographer. Over the past several years this company have operated along the south coast at various towns & cities, leaving behind them dozens of unhappy wedding couples.
We would like to reassure all our current and potential customers that we have never had any dealings with this business and all of our bookings are made directly with the couple after meeting with them.
Wedding directory companies that we are listed with are of a high reputable standard and we are fortunate to be accepted by them. |

Venue Visit |
This afternoon we visited the two venues involved with Sarah & Luke's wedding in July. The chapel at the University of Winchester is beautiful with some stunning stain glass windows. There are some great locations for both the group shots and the romantic interlude at the reception, just up the road on the campus.
They are a lovely couple and we are excited about the locations we have to 'play' with for the photographs. |

Software Upgrades |
| Just purchased the upgrade version of Adobe Lightroom 4 and installed it on the Macs. Adobe Photoshop CS6 is due to be released very soon. Does the learning ever end? The results make everything worth it when we see the final product. |

Provisional Booking? |
| We have quite a few dates provisionally booked for weddings towards the end of 2012 and well into 2013 and taking confirmed bookings (one for 2014!!!). If you have a date fixed and wish us to photograph your big day, please make that enquiry a confirmation soon. The more wedding fayres we are attending, the more the bookings are coming in. Don't be disappointed. |

Emily & Nick's Wedding |
| Emily & Nick's wedding was first class at the East Horton Golf Club. Family & friends were marvelous and joined in with the fun of the evening studio. Photographs should be ready by the end of this week for their viewing before going live on our web pages for all to see. |
